Environment is one of the priority topics on the agenda of OIC. The Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers convenes once every two years. At its fourth meeting in Tunisia in 2010, The Conference made a declaration on “Enhancing the Efforts of the Islamic World towards Environment Protection and Sustainable Development” and agreed on promoting cooperation between the Islamic countries on issues pertaining to environment and sustainable development, within the framework of Islamic solidarity and joint Islamic action.

The Environment Capacity Building (Environment-CaB) Programme has been developed by SESRIC in order to promote environmentally sustainable lifestyle changes and thereby improve the state of the environment in OIC member countries. To achieve its projected goals of encouraging OIC member countries to be environmentally aware, the Centre will organize short-term environment training programmes starting from 2011 with regard to the needs and capacities of the Environment Authorities of the OIC Member Countries.

The Ankara Centre highly appreciates your valued cooperation and urges all Environment Authorities of the OIC Member Countries to participate in the Environment Capacity Building (Environment-CaB) Programme in order to effectively plan and implement training programmes which will, no doubt, add to the specialisation efforts of experts in the OIC Member Countries in general and play an important role in the improvement of human capital in the Member Countries.
