Date : 08-18 August 2017 Venue : Ankara Turkey

The 11-day “Training Workshop on Health Journalism” was organised by SESRIC in collaboration with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and Anadolu Agency (AA) on 08-18 August 2017 in Ankara, Republic of Turkey.

The purpose of the training was to involve journalists from the OIC member countries in promoting healthcare and helping them to gain a wider understanding of the current situation of the health issues in OIC context and to equip them with health-specific skills in order to write and deliver influential stories in this area.

The program was organized within the framework of OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action 2014-2023. The aim was to involve the media in promoting healthcare and to have a more accurate and fair representation of the health situation and the role of OIC in promoting health in its member countries.

Ten journalists from nine OIC member countries; Albania, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Pakistan, Somalia, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey participated in the training, which was concluded with aCertificate Ceremony.

During the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Musa Kulaklıkaya, Director General of SESRIC, addressed the participants by highlighting the enormous role the media plays in the domain of health in terms of raising awareness and dissemination of information.

At the ceremony, Mr. Metin Mutanoğlu, Deputy Director General and Editor-in-Chief of Anadolu Agency, emphasized the high level of importance given to the workshop by AA and stated his gratitude for hosting the journalists of OIC member countries in Turkey on the occasion of this important training.
